Kampung Terian is situated in the district of Penampang, 16KM away from the main road. However, It is only accessible by a 4 wheeler with centipede wheels, airlocks, snorkels and whatnot. The journey would take around 2.5 hours -3 hours, depending on the road and weather conditions. The folks from the Kampung usually depend on the Ministry of Health to airlift supplies and medications to them from time to time. All that remains of a promise by their adun for a Klinik Desa is an empty plot of land. There is no electricity except that which is generated by some solar panels. Then again, the electricity supply is insufficient to last them through the night. DIGI is certainly not the smarter choice in Kampung Terian. The nearest village is another 2 hours away on foot.
We reached the village at about one in the afternoon. The journey was uneventful save for a number of occasions where the winch was needed. Moving on, the medical clinic was up and running in thirty minutes. A group of medical officers from GH manned the consulting rooms. I made myself useful at the dispensary which happened to be the busiest.
