Breaking Dawn LoL
At Mr Razak's consultation room. He works at least 12 hours a day 7 days a week except when he travels or is sick. He does not usually eat lunch and has not done so in over 20 years.
A typical day starts with ward rounds at 10am and ends with ward rounds at around 11pm or 12 am; depending on what time he finishes surgery. It is usually later if he is on call for the week. I had the privilege of scrubbing in for every surgery save the first one. I only saw him lose his cool twice while working under him. The first incident was when the nurses were changing the dressing of burns patient without giving the little boy adequate analgesia. Somehow I cannot remember the second incident off the top of my head.
A product of the NEP, Mr Razak was sent to boarding school (something we copied from the British system) at a young age before he was given the opportunity to further his medical studies to Cairo in the 1970s. Fast forward 30 years later, he is now a General Surgeon, a senior lecturer as well as a Hospital Director. The NEP certainly transformed the lives of many locals because his father was only a bus driver from a small village and did not have the means to financially support his studies.
Mr Razak's twin brother, Prof. Datuk Rani is an oral maxillofacial surgeon and previously the first Dean of the USM School of Dental Sciences. He is also a product of the NEP.
